Glimzer Selected for the Financial Regulation Innovation Lab (FRIL) Innovation Call
19 November 2025

We're pleased to share that Glimzer has been selected to take part in the Financial Regulation Innovation Lab (FRIL) Innovation Call: Future of Wealth Advice.
The programme is delivered by FinTech Scotland and SuperTech, and brings together financial institutions, regulators, technology providers, and academic partners to explore solutions aligned with the FCA's Advice Guidance Boundary Review (AGBR).
For us, this is an important milestone and a good opportunity to contribute to work shaping the future of wealth support and digital advice in the UK.
What is FRIL?
The Financial Regulation Innovation Lab is a national initiative that creates a collaborative environment for innovation in regulated financial services.
It allows participants to:
- Explore new approaches to delivering advice and guidance
- Test ideas in alignment with regulatory thinking
- Engage directly with regulators, industry bodies, and academic experts
The current Innovation Call focuses on how technology can support more accessible, consistent, and compliant wealth advice, particularly in light of the Advice Guidance Boundary Review.
Why this matters for Glimzer
Advice firms are operating in a tough environment.
Many still rely on legacy systems that are slow to use and hard to adapt. At the same time, Consumer Duty has raised expectations across the entire customer journey, increasing the importance of clear processes, good oversight, and demonstrable outcomes.
The advice gap also continues to widen, leaving large numbers of people without access to clear, affordable financial support.
The Advice Guidance Boundary Review opens the door to new models of support. It creates space for:
- Simpler, narrower-scope advice journeys
- Faster and more consistent delivery
- Lower-cost approaches that still meet regulatory expectations
FRIL exists to help move this forward by allowing innovation to be explored with direct input from regulators and industry stakeholders.
For Glimzer, taking part means contributing to industry change while strengthening the compliance foundations of the tools we are already building.
Supporting advisers and their clients
We speak regularly with advice firms and hear the same challenges come up again and again:
- Admin drains capacity
- Legacy systems slow everything down
- Simpler client needs are hard to serve cost-effectively
Our aim has always been to help reduce that friction.
Taking part in the FRIL Innovation Call strengthens our ability to build technology that is:
- Practical for advice firms to use day to day
- Aligned with regulatory direction
- Focused on supporting good client outcomes
We're looking forward to working with the organisations involved and applying what we learn to the products we're building for advisers.
